Nepali calendar, also called Bikram Sambat (विक्रम संबत) calendar which is 56 years, 8 months and 15 days earlier than Gregorian Calendar started by Indian King Bikramaditya. It is basically used in Nepal and India as well. It has variable number of days in each month ranging from 29 to 32 days. The months are Baishakh (बैशाख), Jestha (जेष्ठ/जेठ), Ashad/Asar (आषाढ़/असार), Srawan/Sawun (श्रावण/साउन), Bhadra/Bhadau (भाद्र/भदौ), Aswin/Ashoj (आश्विन/असोज/अगहन), Kartik (कार्तिक), Mangsir/Marga (मार्ग/मंसिर), Poush (पौष/पुष/पूस), Magh (माघ), Falgun (फाल्गुन/फागुन) and Chaitra (चैत्र/चैत). Nepali calendar is defined ruled by the Nepal Panchanga Committee (पंचाङ्ग निर्णायक समिति). Nepali Calendar is basically based on Lunar Days. And the calendar when included with Lunar days, tithis(तिथि), it is typically called Nepali Patro (नेपाली पात्रो). In each lunar month, there are two fortnight typically called Krishna pakshya and Purna Pakshya (कृष्ण र पूर्ण पक्ष). The starting day is called Pratipada (प्रतिपदा) and ends in full moon (पुर्णिमा) or new moon (औशी).
